This is England

I love ‘This is England’ to bits. I was absolutely exhilarated by ‘This is England ’86’. It felt like coming home and seeing old friends and family again. There certainly is something special about the gang. The characters are oddly genuine. And I fell in love with Woody’s new haircut. Just look at him. Oh, the gorgeous symmetry.

Shane Meadows announced today that there will be a ‘This is England ’88’.  A two-hour one-off Christmas special. The filming will begin during spring. We’ll have to wait 11 months to see the result which I’m sure will be brilliant. There’s also a new series of ‘This is England ’90’ in development. We’re being spoiled silly here!

And to Shane, who picked up the best TV drama prize at South Bank Sky Arts Awards, congratulations!
