20 things you might not know about me

Chiaki Creates - 20 Things You Might Not Know About Me1. Dylan Moran is my favourite living person.

2. Growing up, I wanted to be an aerialist and a forensic psychologist.

3. My cat Litania, who lives with my mum in Sweden, is named after Charles Baudelaire’s poem Les Litanies de Satan.

4. I’ve read American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis so many times that I have been known to find a specified sentence in less than a minute.

5. My favourite food is mushrooms and I love trying new kinds.

6. I pretty much know The Rocky Horror Picture Show off by heart.

7. For the past 18 years or so I’ve been a massive Nine Inch Nails fan. I absolutely adore Trent Reznor. Same goes for Joy Division and Ian Curtis. I feel incredibly close to them because they’ve been by my side through thick and thin for so many years.

8. I’m a rationalist.

9. My dad is the only one I know who has watched more films and read more books than I have.

10. I honestly can’t wait to turn 30. I feel like I’ve been twenty-something forever.

11. I have a weakness for Irish accents.

12. I don’t write poetry anymore but I started writing Gothic and Nietzschean poems as soon as I knew how to write, and I did it throughout my whole childhood and adolescence.

13. I find cleaning therapeutic.

14. When it comes to lying I have no tolerance whatsoever. I can’t stand it and it baffles me how people can voluntarily choose to make things difficult for themselves by lying.

15. I’ve been shaving my eyebrows off for the past 17 years. I was raised on David Bowie and I’ve always loved Ziggy Stardust’s cerebral alien look.

16. I was once engaged to a sailor.

17. I can’t play any instruments but I can sing.

18. As a teenager I was a punk and then a Goth for many years. After that I was really into decora and fairy kei for a year or so.

19. I drink at least three pots of green tea every day.

20. When I’m out and about, I say hello to every cat I meet because I consider it polite.

  1. I love the Horror Picture Show, have you ever been to a fan projection with audience participation? I have sometimes thought about going but always end up shying away :)
    The cat, you and us

    • I haven’t been yet actually. I would love to go but I want to go with my best friend who lives in Sweden so I need to fit it in when she’s visiting me. We’ve always talked about it but we never get round to it. Btw, I love your blog! We seem to have quite a few interests in common. :)

  2. I love this list! Plenty of strange (in the best way possible) and colourful details about you ^_^ When I read item #15 I went up to check the picture, wondering why I had never noticed, only to realise that it’s because your bangs always hide your entire forehead, hehe! Thanks for sharing all these things, it’s a very sweet post :)

    • Thank you so much, Nol! I’ve had a shorter fringe many times over the years and usually people still don’t notice. Ha! Here’s a photo of me with a Mia Farrow pixie cut where you can see my forehead. :)
Hope everything is OK with you!

      • Wow! it looks amazing!! That’s the kind of pixie cut i wanted when I got my hair cut two years ago but my hair became curly again after the cut so I got a funky curly pixie xD I guess the no brow look just suits you really well, it looks perfectly normal on your face :) I’ve had a rough time lately, hence the lack of posting and commenting… Your posts never fail to cheer me up though, thank you!

        • Thank you, my lovely! I like the sound of a funky curly pixie cut. :) My hair is virtually uncurlable! I had been bleaching my hair for a few years and it was just too damaged to save so I cut it off myself one afternoon in the bathroom.
I hope life gets easier for you very soon! As you know I’ve been having a rough time as well over the last 6 months (I have a blog post about it in the pipeline) and I’m trying to post more again. It’s difficult when you’re just not feeling it. Any time you want to talk just send me an email OK? Even if you only want to talk about literature! ;)

  3. How did I miss this post? Lol. It’s funny that quite a few of these things I actually did know about you ;-) Maybe I will do a similar post- inspired by our photo sharing today!

    • I think people who know me offline probably know most of these things already. :) I go on and on about Dylan Moran and Nine Inch Nails in “real” life for example but I don’t talk about some things on the blog. Yay! I would love to read your list! It was very inspiring indeed. It has put a huge smile on my face!

  4. That’s lovely to hear more about you!
